Postdoctoral Research Position in Computational Plasma Turbulence
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory & The University of Maryland
A postdoctoral position is available in the area of computational plasma
turbulence, to work on the development and application of 5-dimensional
simulations of gyrokinetic turbulence in fusion energy devices. This work is
aimed at developing improved algorithms for these challenging problems,
harnessing parallel supercomputers to improve our understanding of turbulent
transport in magnetic fusion devices, and, ultimately, optimizing fusion
designs.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. with expertise in one or more of the following
areas: applied mathematics, advanced computational algorithms, modern scientific
computing tools, parallel supercomputers, plasma physics, astrophysics, or other
areas involving computational fluid dynamics, gyrokinetic theory and simulation.
The work would be carried out at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory,
through the Center for Multiscale Plasma Dynamics at the University of Maryland.
