The Navier-Stokes limit of the Boltzmann equation with electromagnetic forces

Abstract:  This joint work with Diogo Arsenio is concerned with the Navier-Stokes limit of the Boltzmann equation with rough - possibly self-induced - force fields. In addition to the different tools usually introduced for the study of hydrodynamic limits, it requires improved L1 hypoelliptic estimates for kinetic transport equations, as well as a careful study of time oscillations.
