Electromagnetic Signatures of Strong Field Gravity Around Black Holes in Galactic Nuclei

Avi Loeb

Harvard University

Abstract:   I will describe generic electromagnetic signatures of the theory of gravity in the strong field regime. They include direct images of the silhouette of nearby black holes (SgrA* and M87) as well as signals associated with the coalescence of black hole binaries at cosmological distances.
