Unitary Extension Principle and Applications

Dr. Zuowei Shen

Mathematics at National University of Singapore

Abstract:   The unitary extension principle provides a great flexibility of designing tight frame wavelet filters and makes constructions of tight frame wavelets painless. In this talk, I will first briefly review the recent development based on or motivated by the unitary extension principle. Then I will focus on a few applications that use the unitary extension principle to design tight frame based algorithms. In particular, the power of this principle is illustrated by showing how it is used in deconvolution, high resolution image reconstructions, noise removal and image inpainting.
