Spread Spectrum from Two Perspectives

 Shlomo Engelberg

Jerusalem College of Technology, Israel

Abstract:  Spread spectrum techniques are used in many communication systems. In this talk we describe the spread spectrum techniques, we build up a theoretical framework for understanding the properties of spread spectrum, and we present some of the theory used in the design of spread spectrum equipment. We will see that though the correct way to understand _why_ spread spectrum works is to consider a probabilistic model, in order to understand _how_ it works one must consider the properties of certain polynomials.
