Metric perturbations from eccentric orbits on Schwarzschild: frequency domain calculations

Abstract:  

We present results on calculating gravitational metric perturbations induced by eccentric motion of a small body on a Schwarzschild black hole background. The metric perturbations are calculated directly in Lorenz gauge and in the frequency domain. The metric amplitudes in the time domain are then accurately constructed using the method of Extended Homogeneous Solutions (EHS). The result is a successful extension of EHS to coupled systems of equations with moving singular sources.
