15th Capra Meeting on Radiation Reaction in General Relativity


Self-force driven inspiral of a scalar point particle into a Schwarzschild black hole

Abstract:  

I describe a proof-of-concept implementation of a code to self-consistently compute the first order self force on a scalar point particle in orbit around a Schwarzschild black hole and its influence on the particle's trajectory. The self force is computed locally in a multipole decompositon formalism and used to update the particle's trajectory, thus taking both dissipative and conservative effects into account.
